Triple Crown Sports features a seven-event sequence within its older-age baseball division called Pathway Baseball, and 2018 already looks like a breakout year for the program.
First up this year is the Albuquerque Pathway Games, set for June 20-23 at the new five-field Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex. This lighted, turf facility is built to meet the needs of 17u/18u teams that come to a Pathway event for a very specific reason – getting their players more informed about the recruiting journey through competition and educational moments, while also putting these athletes in front of and in touch with college coaches who are actively looking to fortify their rosters.
College coaches will be present during pool play games at this Pathway event and will also provide their insight during the Exposure Clinic and individual workouts. It’s a five-game guarantee for 24 teams, who come from Utah, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Minnesota, California and Montana.
“I had a vision for this event from Day 1 to set the foundation of what our Pathway Division will be moving forward. The goal for Pathway is to continue creating these type of events in different regions and get these kids in front of college coaches and play competition they might not normally see,” said event director Gino Grasso. “Albuquerque has been on board and supported this effort 100 percent. Later this fall we will be building a new event at Peoria (AZ) Sports Complex, springtime home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, while also trying to plan 2019 events in Northern California and Birmingham, Alabama. We want to create a niche for these teams and organizations so that they have the opportunity to further their baseball careers after high school.”
Pathway Games-Omaha and Atlanta will also unfold this summer; you’ll also see the Pathway vision play out at the Great Lakes Spectacular and the U.S. Baseball Championships, and the Northern Colorado Fall Classic.
