One of the most impactful events is taking place May 31-June 4 – it’s the Pathway Games Albuquerque, based out of the beautiful Albuquerque Regionals Sports Complex. There’s a five-game minimum to make sure teams get their (wood bat only) swings, while college coaches from all levels of the sport will be on hand checking out the action.
Top achieving programs from Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, New Mexico and Utah are making the trip in. Players looking for that extra push are scooping up spots in the Pathway College Workout Day, set for May 31 at just a $50 charge. All the relevant metrics will be tested for, and video will be shot of each player in the Workout Day as well – there are more than 100 athletes signed up for the program.
And as always, this Pathway event is fueled by the desire to identify the best fits for a given player and his college destination. Not everyone is destined for a Division I future, and it’s important to remember that a college education and a chance to compete after high school has value in a variety of settings.
“The event continues to grow as it is a great regional event for players, teams and colleges,” said Pathway Baseball director Gino Grasso, who has brought more than 20 colleges to the event. “The value for attendees goes beyond just playing ball, but the opportunity to meet with colleges, go through recruiting talks, individual workouts and more. This is a great platform for players to be seen and get the chance to extend their playing days beyond high school."
