For the 9th year, Pathway Baseball will host its College Workout Night in Albuquerque, held in conjunction with the full Pathway Albuquerque tournament week. This event has become one of the most trusted and impactful evaluation opportunities in the region.

What This Event Is

The College Workout Night is a full college-run workout, conducted on the field by 15–20 college coaches working directly with players.

Players are evaluated in a real baseball environment—moving, competing, listening, adjusting, and working—just like they would at the college level. This is not a stationary showcase where players wait for limited reps. Every player is actively involved throughout the workout.

Prospect Games Identification Opportunity

This event is also one of the top identification opportunities for the Prospect Games at the University of San Diego, which features 132 of the nation’s top unsigned players.

The workout night allows college coaches and Pathway staff to:

• Identify players early
• Get a first look at tools, athleticism, and competitiveness
• Track players throughout the week during tournament games

Many players earn increased attention during games because of what they show during this workout.

What Players Will Do

Players will take part in a complete college-style workout, which may include:

• Infield defensive work
• Outfield defensive work
• Running evaluation
• Live batting practice
• Catcher-specific defensive work
• Additional position-specific evaluations directed by college coaches

This format mirrors what college coaches run with their own teams and camps.

Evaluation Philosophy: The College Eye Test

This workout is not focused on chasing measurable numbers.

While data and basic metrics will be collected, this evaluation is driven by the college coach eye test—how players work, compete, communicate, and carry themselves on the field.

College coaches are evaluating:
